Welcome to the Town of Culpeper Virginia.  Established in 1759 as the Town of Fairfax, Culpeper was later renamed by the Virginia General Assembly in 1869.  The Town of Culpeper is the original town center and only incorporated town in Culpeper County providing outstanding opportunities to work, open a business, visit for a day, or spend a lifetime. The heart of Culpeper is its Historic Downtown, which has a broad range of architectural styled homes and buildings representative of the eclecticism of its historic periods and makes a trip to Culpeper worthwhile. The Town is proud to be listed in the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Culpeper is proud of our award-winning historic Downtown, our many parks, bike trails and boat ramps at Town lakes.

Come experience Culpeper.  We are just an hour from DC, less than an hour from Charlottesville and Fredericksburg, and a short drive from Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive. Enjoy dining, shopping, a stroll in the parks, or take the train -- Amtrak arrives right in the heart of Downtown, within walking distance to everything.

Chris Hively was appointed Town Manager effective January 21, 2015. A Virginia native, Mr. Hively holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Military Institute and a graduate certificate in Local Government Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
