The Water Production Facility was completed in 1994 and can produce up to 4 million gallons of drinking water every day. The facilities primary source of water is Lake Culpeper. In addition to water production, the staff is also responsible for maintaining the ecological balance at both Lake Culpeper and Mountain Run Lake.

This includes chemically treating the lake to reduce the amount of algae during the summer months and reducing the amount of metal soil contaminants during the fall and spring. Each water plant operator is required to be licensed by the State of Virginia and recertified every two years. Our staff has a combined experience of 100 years of service with the Town of Culpeper.
