Lake Culpeper Adventures Park
LCA_flag - CopyDiscover the true lake experience at Lake Culpeper Adventures Park. Lake Culpeper Adventures is located at The Ole Country Store & Bakery, off of Route 29 south in Culpeper. We offer canoe, kayak, paddle board and paddle boat rentals. These rentals are a perfect way to spend a warm day or afternoon. A gazebo is available for use or rent by the Town of Culpeper.

If you like crappie and channel catfish Pelham is the place to go. This reservoir probably has more channel catfish per acre than any other lake in Northern Virginia. Other species include largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie and pumpkinseed sunfish. It is also a decent lake for yellow perch.

Wine Street Memorial Park
winestreetDesigned to honor local veterans of World War II and the Korean War, Wine Street Memorial Park is a beautiful neighborhood park dedicated in April 2008. This family park features a central memorial pad containing inscribed brick pavers surrounded by memorial benches, and includes a playground and a separate area with two picnic tables.

The town's Veterans Recognition Committee was created to oversee the fundraising and placement of a monument in the central memorial pad. In June of 2011, a bronze statue titled "Homage" by Kansas sculptor Jim Brothers was unveiled and dedicated, a visually stunning and poignant memorial to those who served. A nationally renowned sculptor, Mr. Brothers created nearly all the bronze figures at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia.

Culpeper Sports Complex
sportscomplexThe County's new sports complex is located just a few minutes away from downtown Culpeper at the junction of Route 29 and Local Route 666, making it accessible to residents of Culpeper and neighboring counties. The 59-acre complex currently contains 16 playable football, baseball, softball and soccer fields, however, plans are also in the works for more amenities including concessions, restrooms, a possible pool, basketball courts and playground equipment. A new walking trail, located by the Little League baseball fields, winds its way through the trees and along the dam of the retention pond. Boasting a picnic table and grill, and several sitting benches, there are plenty of places to enjoy a quiet moment. Be sure and check out the Five Senses Garden, designed to benefit the special needs population. This unique garden contains five raised beds with vegetation that can be identified by ones who've lost a sense.

In Spring 2014, a new trail, "Connor's Trail" will open for public use. The trail is located north past the entrance of the youth baseball complex, and winds through the park's natural environment, bypassing the Five Senses Garden and skirting both passive and active park grounds.

Lenn Park
lennparkLenn Park is an 80-acre park east of Culpeper in Stevensburg, and has recently expanded with the construction of two adult softball fields, renovated an existing flag plaza laden with historical artifacts, and constructed a 40' x 90' pavilion which overlooks the pristine beauty of the parks natural surroundings and seats 60-80 people outside with an additional 60 inside. The pavilion features a heated and air conditioned enclosed room with a warming kitchen for any type of occasion.

Additionally the site boasts a radio controlled airplane air strip, an overnight Scout camp area and a picnic grove nestled within the trees for small gatherings. Families that enjoy time together can take advantage of the sparkling waters of Mountain Run Creek where fishing is a great family tradition (catch and release only). Added family fun awaits those who seek an active energy release with the park's new 16-piece playground, which is divided into two age groups for the convenience of parents.

Looking for exercise? Take a walk or run on the two-mile trail (down and return) that follows Mountain Run Creek to the park's Civil War landmark. Along the way, look for wildlife and challenge yourself to identify various species of trees and plants.

Plans for future development include continuation of a trail system to circumvent the park, an amphitheatre, lacrosse field, volleyball court, horseshoe pit and possibly a skate park.

Adventure is right around the corner!
