The Town of Culpeper is located about 75 miles southwest of Washington, D.C.
Our historic town was created in 1759 and since that time has grown and prospered. The 6.8-square mile town is a wonderful and vibrant community located in the foothills of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. The town has a population of about 15,000.
In 1993, the town was recognized as one of America’s Top 10 Small Towns. To the citizens here, it remains one of the best small towns.
The Culpeper Police Department is an internationally accredited, full service law enforcement agency. The department is authorized 42 sworn officers and nine civilian employees, including reserve officers.
Each of our employees, both sworn and civilian, is well-trained. Our personnel use up-to-date equipment to better serve our citizens.
The department is dedicated to our community and provides high quality service in a courteous and professional manner.
Our staff is committed to providing a safe community for our residents and visitors. We enjoy the relationships we have forged with our citizens and work in partnership with other agencies so that we can continue to live and thrive in this wonderful community we call home.
Again, thank you for visiting our Web site, but if you are in the area, stop by and say hello. We enjoy having visitors to our town and our new police headquarters named after a 35-year veteran of the department, Sgt. Roscoe H. Ford.
